This one is special. I painted it for my partner Jon’s 50th birthday, after he’d asked me years earlier for a view of Criccieth, a seaside town he has very happy memories of.
I started with some watercolour studies of the light on the water. The sun was beaming through the clouds and the whole sea was sparkling.
I kept the palette to soft, muted neutrals, which happen to make it a very easy painting to live with. Jon would certainly agree. The original hangs in our home, but I’m happy to share it with you as a print.
