Anticipation

from £295.00

There's a particular kind of coastal moment when the weather hasn't made its mind up yet. The light breaks through in places, the clouds are moving, and you're not quite sure what's coming next.

Anticipation catches that moment of pause - waves rolling in under a wide, unsettled sky, a dark headland sitting quietly on the horizon while light and cloud do battle overhead. The palette is cool and luminous, all pale blues, soft whites and shifting greys, with that characteristic brightness that arrives just before everything changes.

Whatever the weather decided next, this is the moment just before it did.

Meet Alison

I'm Alison Bradley, an artist now based in Devon, after starting my professional practice in 2005 with my own galleries in North Wales and Chester.

I've been painting the British landscape for over twenty years - oils mainly, sometimes charcoal - working from life before developing pieces in the studio with layers of colour and light. My inspiration comes from the coastline, countryside and the people and animals who belong to them.

I've shown work at the Royal Cambrian Academy, and have been featured on the BBC and Channel 4. My work is in private collections worldwide, and in the National Collection of the National Library of Wales.

My hope is always the same - that a painting connects with something personal to you. A memory of a walk, a love of the coast, or simply somewhere to rest your eyes at the end of the day.
